At DNA our funders are members of a community. We follow the principles of community-centric fundraising, and want to have a different kind of relationship with our donors. With DNA, donors are members of our organization in the same way that staff are, and that clients are. We are all building a community together.
We are so excited to receive one-time major donations, and we also hope that donors will be willing to join us monthly for even a small donation to help us make this work sustainable. Our funding model is inspired by union organizing, and therefore any small amount of monthly funding helps us!

We are currently working on funding fiscal sponsorship or gaining 501(c)3 status. Once we achieve this all donations will be tax-deductible.

All donations go directly into supporting DNA’s work. Our overhead is low because we are a fully digital organization, so your donation goes into supporting peer support groups and paying our staff.

This is such a good question. Our disability justice framework leads us to be explicitly anti-capitalist, which means that we are acutely aware of the reality of the nonprofit industrial complex. Unfortunately while we live in an ableist capitalist system we need money to survive, and while we can work to change this, as disabled staff members we do need financial support. If another system becomes possible we’ll be the first adopters!
